I've come here a handful of times since discovering that it exists only a few months ago. I've had their savory and sweet tofu puddings and the rice cakes, and they're all top-notch quality items. Everything is super fresh, nice and light. Even vegan without the shrimp topping for us vegans, and I'm pretty sure everything is gluten-free as well? (Need to confirm that.) You can do a plain tofu and add either sweet or savory toppings, or do a combo where you can choose 3 toppings. My favorite so far might be boba, grass jelly, and taro balls with either the brown sugar or almond syrup. So good! The rice cakes are also super good - the texture is light and fluffy throughout, and just the right amount of sweetness (i.e. not too much). My favorite is the brown sugar one but you can't go wrong with the classic white either. They also have a matcha one and a ginger one, but I've yet to try those. I've noticed they sometimes run out of the matcha one later in the day so if you are looking to get those, come earlier in the day. There's also coconut mini cakes that I'm curious to try. The space is small with only a couple of tables inside, so if you plan on eating there, you might not get a seat depending on how busy it is. The staff is nice and helpful, especially with the plethora of options people have to choose from. Next time I want to get a whole container of grass jelly and take that home to eat with syrup, as that is such a nostalgic treat that I remember having with my grandmother back in the day.

I got both sweetened and unsweetened soy milk, grass jelly and herbal tea to go. It's nice to see it's fresh made on premises. One gal bought a boatload and said she ain't coming back as often due to congestion pricing so she was making a big trip for this. I enjoyed the few tables for quick demolishing. No weird after taste and soooo yummy. Brings back childhood memories. Cute brick facade outside. Large inside kitchen. It's not a place to linger. Get your fresh desserts and head on out.

Steamed rice cakes, savory tofu hua and the sweet tofu hua with ginger syrup are my favorites! This is worth going to Chinatown for. It's hard to find steamed rice cakes that's so airy, fluffy and light. It's simple yet perfect. I grew up eating this. This the one place in NYC that makes it so good!

Such a great place to get your tofu puddings! They have savory and sweet selections. The staff is always super friendly and I believe there's 2 tables in there that you can sit and eat at. I would recommend to come here early because they usually run out of certain items towards the end of the day!

Came here on a chilly fall day and it was the perfect weather to try some tofu pudding with ginger/almond syrup. I grew up eating this and never really appreciated it, and Fong On helped me reconnect with my inner child that day. The pudding is exactly as I liked it, and is truly authentic to what Chinese families grow up with. It's not necessarily a difficult dish, nor is it something that many places are innovating on, but honestly, it doesn't really need it. I like that it's being provided in a modern setting, and loved the fact that there were non-asians in the store trying this as well. I also got their coconut rice cake which was yummy, as well as their standard white rice cake which they make in house and tastes just like how I remember. Wow, I haven't had this in so long. Of course, I could go to many other chinese grocery stores to try this, but I love seeing these foods represented in a modern setting, as a way of living on with the next generation.

I was doing a mini food tour and wanted to end the day with a sweet treat. I had never had tofu pudding before, and wanted to give it a try. One thing to note is that it's a small storefront with a couple seats. I tried the "snap, crackle and pop" which contains the rainbow jelly, aiyu jelly, and boba. I got the brown sugar syrup on top. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first ate it but I loved it! It was smooth, warm, and not overly sweet which made it easy to eat. Just enough to fulfill a sweet tooth. Can't wait to come back and try more tofu pudding flavors!

Was honestly surprised at how much I would like the savory tofu! It was about $9 ish for a small and $11 for a large. The savory tofu includes tofu, fried shallots, dried shrimp, chili oil and all that good stuff. Hits the spot and it's also good to share! They also have rice cakes, soy milk and herbal jelly at the shop too!

I love the tofu pudding from meet fresh, so this place was like a dream come true! It's a cute little family owned shop that sells savory and sweet tofu pudding and soy milk. The workers were nice and explained the difference between the syrups. I got the large tofu pudding with 3 toppings and a soy milk to take home. The tofu pudding is so soft and melts in your mouth. I would come here every day if I could.

Friendly and efficient service, and delicious soy milk. I just got a small bottle of sweetened soy milk and it was perfect: smooth, fresh flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness. If I lived here I'd definitely be a regular here, and would enjoy the soy milk with fried Chinese donuts for a traditional breakfast. Support this lovely small business!

Located on the edge of Chinatown, Fong On is my family's favorite spot for soy milk and tofu pudding. The OG store was opened in 1933, later transformed into a rebranded shop specialized in fresh and homemade soybean-based products. You can find traditional soy products at Fong On, from sweet/savory tofu pudding to rice cake (糖糕), soy milk to herbal tea (夏枯草). For soy milk, you can even pick from sweetened or unsweetened. The space is small and clean with a few dine-in and outdoor tables. *Sweet Tofu Pudding with Taro Balls, Aiyu Jelly, Grass Jelly 豆腐花(芋圓, 愛玉, 涼粉) We ordered a large bowl ($10) and built our own tofu pudding with three toppings and brown sugar syrup. The tofu pudding was silky, smooth and jiggly. The chewiness from the taro balls added more texture to the desseet, while the aiyu jelly and grass jelly complemented with the silkiness of the tofu pudding. Of course I have to mention it was NOT TOO SWEET. A light and heartwarming dessert to enjoy after a full meal.
